The P-51D Mustang of Major William A. Shomo, OC 82nd Tactical Recce Squadron USAAF taking off for action - Binmaley, Philippines, Feb. 1945.

Major Shomo was a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient for an action in which he and his wingman engaged a formation of 13 Japanese planes (1 bomber and 12 fighters) and shot down 10 of them - 7 of these victories were credited to Maj. Shomo.

Wow, that is amazing. I have never seen such technical detail on a vector. What do you use and how did you do the background?

The plane is 100% vector done in Xara X1 (the irregular inscriptions were traced from bitmaps though), as for background I played around with Vue 4 for a bit and after trying about 10 different ones finally decided on this one (I liked the purple/indigo shades) + motion blur added in PSP 9.
